Connections between the MALES family and Diarist John CARRINGTON

Edward PIERCE aka PEARCE married Anne MAILES in Codicote in 1773. Anne subsequently died in 1810. After which Edward married her younger sister Sarah MAILES in 1811 by Licence at Knebworth. Sarah MAILES was a widow having previously been married to Richard JEPPS who died in 1801.

Anne and Sarah MAILES were the daughters of Joseph MALES & Elizabeth JEPPS who lived at The Node in Codicote. Joseph MALES died in 1782. Further details can be found in his Prerogative Court of Canterbury (PCC) Will.

Edward PIERCE’s father also called Edward had married Mary. Edward senior’s sister Elizabeth PEARCE – a aunt of Edward PIERCE junior married Richard WAPLE. The Diarist John CARRINGTON married their daughter Elizabeth WAPLE in 1767 by Licence in Shadwell, Middlesex.

John CARRINGTON's marriage is how the PEARCE/PIERCE cousin mentioned as "Coz Ewd Pierce of Cheshunt formerly of the Noade Farm in Codicote" in John CARRINGTON's diary entry for November 19th 1808 came about.

Cousin Edward PIERCE junior died in Cheshunt in 1828.
